Some of my most favorite pieces I find here on deviantArt are really rough sketches. There's always a very specific charm to them which really appeals to me. The below image by ~Pensketcher is one of those which really caught my eye when I first saw it and stuck with me.

This is his character, Alie. After seeing the sketch I had to try my hand at drawing her. I also liked the way he depicted her form in the image, and again I wanted to emulate that feature of this character. And, of course, it was another chance to draw some badass girl with weapons! The color scheme is a bit different from his official colored version, but the colors I did are the ones I saw in my head when I first saw the sketch.
