Description My latest drawing of my favorite character on True Blood, Eric Northman!
This took around 6 hours (I made a few mistakes I had to fix) and I'm not entirely sure if I want to add a black background or not.
Opinions?

Eric! <3

i think a black background might tie in well with the whole vampiric theme, make him seem v. pale (as he is) & really focus our attention on him, but whatever you want to do

yeah, it's a really tough choice, but I think I'm going to stick to the white background for now ..
I might ask my teacher his opinion next week .. but I doubt he'll have anything other to say besides its your choice haha.

but thanks for the suggestionn!

I wouldn't add the background. I think it looks great like this, gives you that kinda eerie, limelight feel. Which is pretty close to the feel you get from the show, so I'd keep it as is.

I think you did a fantastic job! Something bothers me about the eyes, I'm not sure what. And I'm also pretty sure that it's actually the way the actor looks, and not your rendition of him. I never could quite get into his character, and it's got something to do with his eyes. So I think you probably got it bang on

Great, great work. Especially for the amount of time you've put in. It would take me about three times as long

Good stuff man!

Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with the white background, I was talking it over with my roomie, and we decided to leave it white. Every now and then though I consider it haha, but I won't now

haha what a sin, it's his nose that bothers me when he's not all vamped up for some reason .. always did. And Thanks for the comments! It's greatly appreciated !

A black background might help. It seems a little washed out which is making it appear too bright. Adding a black background might increase the appearance of brightness, but I think it will give the piece something solid to rest on that will make him look more realistic. Also, I couldn't tell if he was crying or if his eye was bleeding. If he is crying, you might want to lighten up the tear a bit so it looks more like clear water. Other than that, the detail, shading, and proportions are excellent! A strong composition that might possibly be even stronger with a solid background

Is their any way you can try the black background without having to commit to it? I know when drawing, black backgrounds don't really go away that easily. Perhaps scan in and fill to get a general idea if it's going to work or not before you actually draw it?

Hope this helps in your decision-making! Good luck!
