Utterly superb and completely heartbreaking. Sir John Franklin was an utter ass, who got his entire command killed vainly. Fortunately, the British would never make that kind of botch of polar exploration again. I agree with the others, your graphic novel SHOULD be stunning.
Going to do anything with the excavated corpses of the survivors? Morbid, but fascinating. We Americans have our own similar, but not quite so grim story"

They did make a similar kind of a botch of it in 1912 with Robert Scott and his four companions at the South Pole. Not (fortunately) as many lost, but a similar example of inept planning or leadership.

Right. There are also articles on the amount of lead in the bodies--they think the soldering in the canned goods was very defective. Your pictures, like all your work, are respectful and excellent.
There are surviving narratives of the Jeanette expedition you can get on the internet. And then from another American expedition--there's THIS:

Gets interesting, doesn't it?

Cool idea for a project! I'm not sure what actual good will come of this discovery, though. Historical value aside, big oil is behind this push for "sovereignty in the Canadian Arctic", often at the expense of native groups and wildlife. So. I would totes support your work, but I am ambivalent about this actual discovery. Your picture captures that hopelessness and inevitability really well.

Yeah, it's great they found it, and was the first thought I've got after seeing it.
