The Old Republic is canon in that the canon Star Wars: Clone Wars made a direct reference to the Old Republic, and even had a lightsaber that was Exar Kun's. Β Revan should have been referenced.

I was kind of hoping that Kylo Ren would reference Revan somehow in the film. Β When he didn't, I was slightly upset, but as far as I am aware Disney may (or may not) have confirmed that The Old Republic's storylines are still canon, which means that he might get referenced in another film or featured in a show (the reason why I mention this is because in Rebels there is a starship featured called the Hammerhead, and in the canon it mentions that it is 'based on an ancient and tried-and-true design' which looks almost like a carbon copy of the Hammerhead cruisers from KoTOR and its followup titles...as far as I am aware, Rebels was included in the list of canon sources that Disney is using, as it is a direct sequel to the Clone Wars show, which is also canon).
