I have spend some time with this one - finally got it finished.Started it about a week ago - didn't had no ideas how to finish this, but now it's ready

Hi. I'm wondering about your process in piece like this - do you block shapes before putting textures on them or do you build them on fly? Also, could you share a tip how to build such marvelous color palette?

I do both - I sometimes do just shapes and later add textures, but sometimes it's like sketching and painting at the same time.
That means I usually work with my painting long time before I'm ready to submit it anywhere
I use lot a of gradient map's for painting - so you can add layer style on them, paint masking and much more.
Of course there are lot more options how to paint your work.
