Baby Nightfury I made to sell at Anime Iowa. I love making them! I get better each time I make them.Took nearly 4 hours if you count the glazing so he will not break too easy. Made out of Premo Sculpy.
Just barely over an inch tall! Less then a 2 inch wingspan.
*Note- this picture did not give him justice. He looks so much cuter, smoother, blacker and textured in real life. out of all the pictures I took (over 12) this one was the best. It is a newer camera, but it takes crappy art pictures

Have you tried taking pictures in a light box? You can make your own for super cheap and easy, which is what I did, and my photos come out WAAAAYYY better than my actual skill as a photographer.
Oooh, also, just from my personal experience, I have found that getting up really close to take the picture for details just doesn't work
And then I bring the picture into Photoshop (if you have it) and AutoTone, AutoContrast and AutoColor (not necessarily all three or in that order, varies from photo to photo) but that gets the clearest results that are the most true to life. ^_^

Yep I have been wanting to make a light box for a long time. Havent really gotten around to it yet though >.< I get several boxes at work that would work great for making one. Even some cute Japanese paper to use for the floor of the picture.
I do stant about a foot or two and use zoom on the picture, but it still never gets it right. Doing that makes getting the angle on the art even harder to look good. He really looks amazing in person, and I am saying that with much criticism. I nitpick my own art alot and never sell anything I make that I don't like to admire and show off. 
In this picture, I took some before the sun peeked through the tree's, then took some with the sun and no flash. This one was the sun image. Turned out the best of them all. =/ Oh well, it works.

I understand completely. I am super nit-picky about my own work, too, so I understand how something *not* looking good in a photo when you're *finally* happy with the result can be so unhinging haha >_<

Thank you! I have made others, but this one (apart from the wings and lack of claws) is nearly a clear likeness to him. I have already watched How to train your dragon 10 or more times
