PS: that battle was absolutely gruelling - I was on Normal and they were almost wiping my party every turn, even with buffs up...

I've got no complaints about the final battle against this guy, mainly because I haven't even made it to him (them?) yet. I do, however, have a problem with the random encounters against him earlier on in the game. I'd like it if there were more of a warning before you got to where they were supposed to occur.
I just ran into him coming off of another long battle, & I was just barely able to survive him & defeat the jewel guys he summoned. I get that you probably wanted to make the encounters surprises, but I'd appreciate a subtle warning. You could just have someone in the party say they have a bad feeling when entering into the area where these are set to occur & suggest that the group retreat to prepare for the worst or something.
Of course this is all moot since you've already released the final version of the game, but I just felt a need to put my two cents in.

Eh, not likely. Akron's submission that showed off all his animations and stuff has the meltdown background that was used for the final Lance battle in the second game, so it's higly likely that Godcat's getting the same treatment here, just with the final background from the third game instead. He's probably gonna have something new lined up for the game's final cut.
