The 3d models were nice, but I mean, I also wouldn't have minded sticking to 2d and just having them be higher quality. ESPECIALLY if using 3d models was at the expense of not having enough funds for the last game.

I'm with you except for "the 3d models were nice". CGI is not quite out of the Uncanny Valley yet. Anyway, I've never seen the point of 3D in games without a controllable camera. If you're only looking at the model from a couple of angles, why waste all that processing power?
I'm not worried about ZE3, by the way. Stuff doesn't not get made anymore. When creators can't get proper funding, they just beg on the street get donations from fans! (And sarcasm aside, this is one I'll happily chip in for.)

I see your point, it does seem like a waste if there's an easier, simpler solution. I'm not sure about the majority but at least a handful could be perfectionists who have the insatiable desire to outdo themselves any chance they get? I can see Uchikoshi being like this haha.
I would slap that man with my money if he asked for it. I'm pretty sure if the ZE3 team created a kickstarter, the international fanbase would definitely contribute. If only D:

Itβs not the creatorβs fault, there just doesnβt seem to be enough funding for more games. :c According to some articles it seems the following in Japan just isnβt big enough, unlike how well it's been received internationally. BUT Uchikoshi hasnβt lost any of his passion for this, luckily. No matter how long it takes I seriously hope we get that sequel. In the meantime we just gotta play the waiting game.

Yeah 999 and it's sequel VLR is technically the best story of games of 2010 and 2012( heck the best of all times).
