Description A rather unusual piece for me, for a number of reasons.

The format. Man when JackTheMaverick sent me the commission details, the first thing that came to my mind was "holy shit, this piece is gonna be tall". Taller than some sequoia trees. Taller than the Burj in Dubai. So tall that when you view it from the top and start going down to the bottom you age a few years. Two girls, one sitting on top of the other? Yep. Giga tall. Taller than Kirarin from Ims CG.

I have to admit I panic a bit when I'm tasked with making a piece with non-traditional dimensions. As a photographer, I've grown accustomed resolutions that aren't this wide or this tall. There are a few things you must take into consideration when composing a piece, one of them being how elements in the composition draw the viewer's eye around the piece. Another thing would be the fact that placing two elements in a line vertically creates visual tension.

Ononoki being the stand or base, I naturally decided to draw her first. Kagenui's pose would be mainly dependent on how Ononoki would look like. I had to wrestle with her pose quite a few times, going between Jack's original suggestion and experimenting with some of my own; before ultimately deciding on falling back to the original description. The things I felt really helped pull the composition together were the microphone cord and the spotlight. Do people really still use wired microphones for performances? Either way I feel it helps draw the viewer's eye smoothly from Kagenui to Ononoki, down towards the edge of the spotlight, which in turn draws the viewer's eye back upwards the piece. I might be talking complete bullshit here though. But these specific details from the client really helped.

Jack had a very detailed description about this piece too; he had a very clear image of how the piece was supposed to look like in the end, and I really hope I lived up to his expectations. If I never hear from him again then I'll have a good idea why lol. Jack described this piece as a "lounge singer" inspired one, and my first thought was Jessica Rabbit, which inspired me to give her a maroon dress. Man I should have added the long gloves though.

Some artists prefer that they be given full artistic freedom in a piece instead but I can't really tell if I prefer the former over the latter. Both options have their share of pros and cons and I'm really 50-50 about which type of commission I prefer. I think about this a whole lot. Some artists specify in their commission info that they prefer to be given a lot of wiggle room while others state that they want very clear and specific commissions. Me? I don't know. I'm not sure. No preference whatsoever.

And holy shit I should write these with a clear mind for once. I always tend to write these when I'm dead tired.

You can expect all sorts of the unusual when I think something up, whether it's just an idea or a full visual.

I hadn't known you can get into a minor panic when it came to works with dimensions of the nontraditional type, not something I intended for you to go into. Last thing I ever want to do when I commission someone is having them panic, not give them an nigh-impossible task or make them rush or anything that puts them into that mindset. I do apologize if I had placed you into that mode for any amount of time, sir.

And an interesting note, a few minutes after I gave you the "OK" to post this commission all around, I took note of the lack of gloves and I thought about sending a following e-mail to note that, but I retracted it. This was because I had this impression that Ononoki was already visually active with her active attire colors and the wire cords going around her, that I felt like Kagenui would be a good "opposite" to balance that, where she is more visually relaxed. Maybe she would have looked just as nice with the gloves, but that was the thought I had in mind.

And for sure, you've not only lived up to my expectations, you've exceeded them. You've done a fine job and you'll certainly hear from me sometime soon. And even in the afterlife. I haunt u. o.o Okay no, that's a little too much lol. But yeah man, a bounty's worth of kudos for you, yo. Especially with the microphone arm. That's really the one change you did, where I had planned on it being near her mouth, but your having her suspend it more forward, to where it looks like she intentionally wrapped Ononoki up really made it a greater visual piece. There's certainly power in the wiggle room that comes in artistic freedom, sometimes you can get something greater, but as you said, both options have a fair amount of good and bad to them.

That'd be a lot of lewds to take in, and I wouldn't be against it in the slightest.
