Description
Haven't gotten very far with this update but starting work on a new province is always good progress enough.
Hammerfell is dominated by the Redguards whop primarily speak varieties of Neo-Yoku. There are two main categories within Neo-Yoku; firstly, the more conservative form spoken primarily in the west and generally in rural areas, favoured by the supporters of the Crowns; secondly, the more modern forms which takes on much more foreign influence (seen both in vocabulary and grammar) and which is spoken in all of the main trade port cities, as well as in the main stronghold of the Forebears, the Goldmoor region in the southeast.
In the Alik'r desert, the nomadic population speaks tongues that fall outside the scope of Neo-Yoku; they are archaic enough to be even closer to the old Yoku spoken by the ancestors of the Redguards than even the tongues spoken in Yokuda today.
In the southeastern frontier, West Colovian and other Nedic languages survive in the more isolated mountainous and highland regions.
