Description Blooming leaves on some kind of tree...
Spring is finally here, or have actually been for a little while, I just haven't had the time to upload any pictures yet!

Post-processing
Lightened the picture and turned up the magenta tones a bit on the white balance.

Turned up the contrast pretty much with a black and white layer set to soft light (100%).
Lightened and turned up the contrast a bit more with two curves layers. One for the leaves, and one for the background. Sharpened a tiny bit.

The motive is a springtime classic. Fresh Leaves in a bright light and in macro distance. To interpret it once again several things are important.

Firstly, the perspective and composition has to be rather unusual. To get it upside down fro top to bottom as seen here is rather unusual. So this is a big plus. To archieve a better effect the branch should be shown as a small detail or as a whole thing. The decision to show it completely is well done, i think. However, it should be shown completely. At the left and right the beginning leaves are a bit cropped. It would be better without the certain crop, i think.

The colour is dominated by the bright background. Alltogether a pretty warm colourbalance has been chosen. I'd prefer to see it with some more blue in it.

In addition, the focus / the Depth of Field should be big enough to see many things. I think the chosen aperture value was a bit too big. A smaller one to archieve a bigger DoF would have been positive, i think. The sharpness of the leave at the right is very detailed and well dosed.

Alltogether a pleasant interpretation of a classical springtime motive with some thing to enhance the next time.

First I'd like to thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do this, it really means a lot to me.

So over to your comments:

I'm not really sure if I understand what you mean that it's taken upside down from top to button...but I agree with you about the fact that I should have included all of the leaves at the side, I guess I was too focused on the other leaves to notice the others when it mattered.

When it comes to the colourbalance I think I disagree with you. The leaves had some beautiful green tones with oranges and yellows in them and I wanted to enchance that, the picture could maybe have a tiny, tiny bit more blue in it, but definately not much.

The aperture could definately have been smaller. I think I'm so fond of shallow depth of field, that I often realize too late that it probably was a bit too shallow. And I never really seem to learn that I shouldnt trust the screen on the camera when it comes to judging sharpness. I originally inteneded both the main leaves to be as sharp, something I obviously didn't manage...!

Again, thank you so much for this, when I opened up for critiques I actually didn't think anyone would post one.

My pleasure!!

Well i meant the camera was not at the same level as the leaves were. It was above them and shot from top position to the bottom.

Well colours in the background area are nice as they are. But the shadowareas might have some more blue i meant.

Yep, normally a small DoF is very effective! However, with macros it is maybe different..
