Putting her pants back on forced her to choose between two discomforts. On one hand pulling the waist over her stomach afforded her a degree of modesty but pinched into her painfully. On the other hand letting the band ride below her belly caused no discomfort but left her tummy on display. She finally sided on comfort over propriety and let her stomach billow over her pants, bouncing happily for all the world to see. Not wanting to ruin another one of her prefered shirts, Ary had grabbed an off-white undershirt instead. It was not holding up well, so it was with careful steps that Ary entered “Maude’s Magical Menageries” once again, her caution resulting in only moderate wobbling.

“Can I help you?” The old woman asked, puzzled by Ary’s choice of attire.

“You’d better!” Ary demanded. “What is this?” She threw the note on the counter.

The old woman began reading. “Weight Gain Wand. Primary use: Enchanted to make any user fatter after just one use. For best results turn the wand on and place gently against the--”

“I’ve read it already!” Ary barked, snatching the note away. She held up the vibrator in front of the old woman accusingly.

“Oh!” The old woman’s eyes filled with understanding. “You’re the young lady from earlier. Well it seems to have worked.”

“Worked? Look at me! I’m huge! None of my clothes fit anymore. I flashed an entire coffee shop and I’m out $40 on a vibrator that’s just going to make me even fatter! Change me back!” The ending of her rant becoming a desperate plea.

The old woman straightened “All sales are final. Besides it’s not my fault you turned yourself into a butterball. I tried to dissuade you. Didn’t you know it was magic? Why else would a thrift store charge $40 for a vibrator?”

“...I thought you didn’t approve of me buying sex toys” Ary sulked.

The woman was taken aback. “How prudish do you think I am? Vibrators are totally normal; healthy even!” She paused and thought for a moment. “Unless you use them to make yourself obese.” She amended.

“How do I change back?” Ary asked quietly.

The old woman shrugged. “Diet and exercise? I know a good nutritionist. Magic can’t be easily reversed. I’m afraid that for the moment you’re just going to have to live with it.”

Ary sniffled and walked out the door sullenly.

“Don’t you want the name of my nutritionist?” The old woman called after her, but Ary didn’t respond. She stepped inside her apartment and tried to remove the constricting shirt and pants. The pants eventually came off, but the shirt was damaged beyond repair.
She sat down on her bed, naked and fat and totally unsure what to do next. Then she heard a knock at the door.
