Description I did the wings reference sheet this morning while making french fries...I would have liked to to have it a little more in depth but I couldn't think of ways to describe or show the complicated flying movements so we'll call this the basic sheet until I come up with a way.

This is going to help me so much when I draw dragons! I needed to see how the feathers on the wings would look. I wanted to fold the wings up with the underside showing, then I would do a few references for the wings from above, below and colors and patterns. Thanks!

It's folding in the wings that give me a hard time. You know when dragons aren't flying. But practice has made better so far. Thanks for the references <3

Fetherd wings do not hve "fingers" like this tere short ans sruncher to gether all that gives stucher to a fetherd wing is the qwill of the fethers and it cones frome the sholder in the shape of an "M" the first line being the side and the last ( if it were sort) is the dration of the "hand or finger" bones ...... but the bat like wing was vary helpfull in my drawing thank you

You did not hurt my feelings, I don't really care. This is old and I am now aware of my mistake. Since the sheet is out dated, I never updated it. I hope my other tutorials on drawing dragons are helpful.

The bat-like wings are well done, but feathered wings are actually structured quite differently. They don't have spread out "fingers" like how you've drawn them. most of the fingers are compressed into one major digit, projecting back from the hand to give support to the wing. It's much shorter too, since most of the wing length and width is all feathers. Think of a cooked chicken wing-that's what a feathered wing looks like underneath, not a bat wing.

Thanks for the ideas, the most major concern I have is drawing the wind folded on the side of the body, any possibility of you sending me something like that? I work best from seeing it. Or do you know a tutorial of that type?

Again a lovely sheet and I am so going to eat that texture and steal it D: but in the wing images you've mapped out all of the fingers seem to bend the wrong way :3 They're need to curl the other way like that of a bat, allowing them to cup and push the air :3 like this: [link]

*tilts head* I guess. It was close, I've never seen a bat, but I've studied birds.

Lol its just a minor thing, the wing fingers just bend the wrong way is all, if a dragon had its wing fingers curl outwards like that they wouldn't be able to cup any air and thus wouldn't be able to fly D:>

Nice reference for the most common dragon wings. A lot of people have trouble with it mostly because they don't think of it as a hand.
