Yeah it actually does! But funny enough, his eyes are closed. The pupil slit is fully closed over to block out the camera flash.

Yeah imagine the cats pupil and how they shrink into little slits. You know the snake is asleep if you can't even see a thin black line.

Huh, well shit I didn't think they had a way to close their eyes. Β I thought they just through their body over their head and that was it.

What's even crazier is that because their eyes have one big scale over them, if the eye takes an impact the eye dome will have a dent in it. You can place the snake in a plastic box with warm water for it to pop back out to normal.

Oh god that sounds so painful! Β I know I learned a while ago that when they shed their skin, the skin or whatever may not come off the eye.

I saw a poor Ball Python in the pet shop with that problem. It was so sad to see but the box with warm water can fix those things if they happen. The pet shop owners don't care I guess.

Aww, the poor thing! Β Maybe they didn't know about it yet? Β But that's a good trick; does the snake mind being placed in warm water?

For the little one it is easy but Mr.Snookums is between 7-8 ft so it is very frustrating to get him in and then very hard to know he is stressing out inside the box, but it has to be done.

Thankfully I never need to do it with him these days but the little one strikes his food hard so it happens a lot as he drops back down with the rat in his mouth. While the dent looks painful I don't know if it actually hurts them. Someone said it fixes itself when they shed. But I have never left it to see if it does.
