This drawing is one of my favourites. Since Jurassic Park, the velociraptor has been my favourite animal to draw. Though this one doesn't look anything like the real V. Mongoliensis.Related content

Modern science believes, that Velociraptor had feathers ... because its ancestors may have been birds and able to fly. You can find feather quill knobs on its bones ... So Jurassic Park is probably not quite right. ^^ But anyway, nice pic!

It's sketchie but the anatomy is very well done, loving the pose too.

I like the pose. I also have a some raptor stuff in my gallery.
Sadly, the animal in JP was no velociraptor. The original raptor was not living in montana but in china. The animal in JP was a deinonychus. It fits the appearance in JP. But, I guess the name was to complicated for hollwood. And China was to far away. The velociraptor mongoliensis was 6 feet with tail. Kinda cute for a movie killer.

Actually, the real velociraptor stood less than four feet, had feathers from head to foot and probably used it's claw to stab at a victims throat than disemboweling them. The version they made for JP, I agree, looks much more like deinonychus, but then there's a little theory that I came up with, the velociraptor in JP looks the way it does cause of genetic mutation (when they blended the Raptor DNA with frog DNA) Then we could have a great discussion about this...

Might be. But that's no explanation for why they found the "Raptor" iun Montana, where you actually only gonna find T-rexes and Deinonychus(ses?).
By the way, Hollywood always uses genetic mutations as excuse for totally impossible entities.
Think of fantastic four.
Or, like in tranformers, it's quantum dynamics, whatever this should be.

In some way Matrix is more authentic than JP, because they created a situation, where nobody can say if it is true or not.
But in JP trivial information gets manipulated just to make the movie look better. And the excuse for that is, that the information is just trivial.
But for some paleontologists, it is redigulously wrong. Nothing more and nothing less.
Meanwhile, most Hollywood movies just make me aggressive. Those little trivials are one thing.
But twisting and bending history like in Pearl Harbor, Private Ryan, etc,etc. to make the american government appear like they wrer the "good ones"? That's getting more and more pervert.
