One of my attempts to work with watercolors again~ ^^ It's been a couple years since I last used them!Anyhoo~ Here's my my rendition of Terra (a.k.a Tina) of FFVI. I had to be a little more creative on the costume as the Amano version and game sprites differ quite a bit. :\
I used Koi brand watercolors on watercolor paper. Lines were inked with Microns (various colors), and although you may not see it, there's some clear lame (la-meh) gouche on some of the decorations. Took about 10 hours to complete from start to finish.

Can I ask a question? When you're making the picture, which do you do first, the lineart or the watercolors? Is there a pencilled sketch underneath everything?

I usually pencil in my artwork first, clean up most of the lines, then watercolor, then pencil or ink over the lines again so they are darkened.
I don't remember if I used a lightbox to trace over my sketch or if I drew directly to the paper and inked over my pencils.

Woah that looks so pretty, Tina is okay but I like Terra better I think it fits her more.
Tina meaning 'river' or 'Little heavy but pretty'
Terra meaning 'Earth'
I think why be a river on the Earth why you can be the Mother Planet Earth.
