Description Warning: Full view is 3400 pixels wide

This is the Hawk, a 3 wheeled vehicle I designed earlier this year. For more info read the blurb just above the final render on the right hand side.

This presentation panel was done for an exhibition. The origional is 15,000 x 4,000 pixels, so thought I should resize it before uploading, haha.

This has been printed at a size of 35cm x 120cm, and is mounted and sitting nicely in an exhibition room right next to an LCD screen showing several animations explaining the concept.

Renders shown are done with Cinema4D, and all post production and compositing is done using Photoshop CS2.

Thanks for stopping by.

The only thing I can find wrong with it (And I've been cracking down on myself with this, after my Stasis project) is the hubcaps... Ambience and specularity, I think would have provided a cleaner look, instead of reflecting grittyness.

Other than that, it's fricken' awesomeness!

Very cool, excellent design not only of the Hawk itself, but also of the presentation. Smooth and professional, although I don't like the ground too much

But heh, that's called nitpicking. Good job!

Love the presentation, really interesting. Your drawing skills are pretty good if you ask me, I just can't get the hang of the third dimension on paper.

Mh... if you can move the engine back a bit you might be able to do some sort of push together seats... uh, I mean that the seat seems to be for one person only, but in case of an emergency you can move the driver seat a bit forward and seperate it from a passenger seat, which usually fits behind the drivers seat. Might be a bit uncomfortable, but could be useful at times. And when not needed you have more storage space (a bit hard to access maybe, though).

Ps: Where is the fuel supposed to be?

PPs: I think this concept would be interesting for Tesla Motors. The next car they want to produce is a sports sedan, but I think this thing is lightweight enough to be interesting.

Took me a long time to get the sketches there done, I had to be pretty carefull with them. Haha.

I like the idea of the seats... perhaps if I lengthened the entire vehicle a wee bit, there could be storage behind the seat, or an emergency seat. Could be interesting.

Good question about the fuel, I've obviously totally forgotten about it. I'm guessing underneath the seat, to keep the weight nice and low.

I've never heard of Tesla motors, but I'll google them.

kadajawi In reply to L-X [2006-11-29 02:07:54 +0000 UTC]

Haha

Yeah, that's what I thought. Something like an emergency seat. It would be pretty uncomfortable, and ladies shouldn't wear skirts, but after having sat in Japanese cars from the early 90s I think that's acceptable... the Colt and the Civic seemed to be ridiculously small in the back (was pretty painful after a while), and I'm pretty small. If they can do that I think it's perfectly ok in something sporty.

Yeah, keeping weight low makes sense, and from a security point of view it should be somewhere where it wouldn't be crushed easily, so the middle looks like a good idea.

Tesla is making electro cars, but from a drivers point of view, not a greenpeace point of view. So the design is by Lotus, the handling too, etc. and the performance rivals Ferrari, Porsche, ... The next car they want to work on is supposed to rival the BMW 5 series (hopefully not in the design department ).

Good luck with your presentation, is this your final work?

I've been following the hawk for ages. This is great, it really shows the concept and design process, plus a final render, which is brilliant.
This is awesome, if they ever make a real one, see if it floats then send it over the ditch You know what I mean.

yeah like who the hell needs space for legs when it looks like that eh?
p.s.^don't think he read the little things written around the drawings

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

kadajawi In reply to mrs-malfoy [2006-11-28 22:33:38 +0000 UTC]

Isn't there space for the legs? Somewhere between the headlights I suppose. Although when crashing it into... well, anything, I wouldn't want to sit inside. There is no absortion zone at all.

mrs-malfoy In reply to kadajawi [2006-11-29 07:05:19 +0000 UTC]

well basically there is leg room, i just read the description alex wrote near the drawings and he says that you'll need more leg room so i'll just take his word on that 'cause i have no bloody idea how this should look so it can work too
all i know is that it looks cool
