Description
A fast drawing of a new perspective of the Macrauchenia, those extinct mammals of South America so iconic in popular culture for prehistory, being known for their appearances in multiple media, such as the BBC documentary "Walking with beasts", and mainly for being a recursive animal to appear in the "Ice age" saga of Blue Sky studios. These were mammals of the Litopterna order (mammals exclusively from South America now totally extinct) that inhabited South America from the ancient Miocene to the Pleistocene, and possibly had contact with the first nomadic human settlers of the continent. They were also quite large animals with dimensions similar to those of an moose, up to 3 meters long and over a ton in weight. However, in the classic representations of these animals, they have a trunk similar to that of an elephant or a tapir, but new studies indicate that they did not have such a structure, and instead had a slightly thick and bulging nose, similar to that of a camel or an moose. With new studies and findings we give ourselves new, more accurate ideas to learn about the earth's past. Studies:
