Description
This was written/designed BEFORE the entire Season Five, so it may conflict with future canon.

Rarity had been offered the chance to relocate her store in a prime location in Canterlot. Always one for improving her business, she took it. After all, it was just a few hours ride from Ponyville, and it wasn't permanent, so she had no regrets about leaving her birth town for awhile.

There, Rarity bumped into an old friend, and struck up a relationship with him. Everything was going fine for Rarity. Business was booming, and she had a wonderful coltfriend. Life became even better when her coltfriend proposed. The two married, and Rarity gave birth to a scrawny colt, who they named Pureheart. Her second foal was a filly, and was named Star Sapphire. After that, things went downhill... Rarity wasn't sure why, but her husband began to distance himself from her and his family, and Rarity grew so frustrated with it, she approached him and gave him two choices. Either explain to her why he was being so cold with her and his children lately, or leave. He chose the latter.

Depressed, Rarity tried to distract herself by deciding to move back to Ponyville along with her two children. She needed the comfort from her family and friends over her breakup, and they gladly tried to help in any way they could. Eventually Rarity got over him, but still reflects sadly on their past relationship, wondering what had gone wrong...

It was a few years later, when her children were about teens that Rarity had saw one another one of her friends who she hadn't seen in awhile; Spike. He had taken a long trip away from Ponyville, and hadn't returned until then. She was quite surprised when she saw him, as he was no longer the cute "baby" dragon he was a few years ago. He explained to her that his body hadn't aged with his mind, and it grew more apparent to him as time went on. Eventually he heard from a passing friendly dragon that there was a way to grow without using greed, which is why he went off on the quest. He was successful, he said jokingly while waving his claws around his face. Spike's jokes managed to make Rarity laugh, much like they used to in the old days... After awhile, Rarity became aware that Spike still indeed had feelings for her, though they were possibly more... "real" this time, instead of when at first he only liked her because of her beauty. It took some convincing for her, but she realized that she liked Spike too, and accepted when Spike asked her out. They dated in partial secrecy, or at least didn't try to make their relationship obvious in front of Rarity's kids, who already kind of knew about it anyway. Sapphire was the one who told Spike, who then asked her permission to marry her mother. She said, "Oh, dear Celestia... Yes, of course! She needs you. Badly. Seriously, you should of done it sooner."

After their marriage, Rarity told Spike that she wanted to have kids again... But they weren't sure if it were possible for a dragon and a pony to actually mate successfully. After awhile Spike decided to ask Twilight about it, and after some thought came up with a solution. She could transform either Spike into a pony, or Rarity into a dragon. After a discussion, Rarity chose to become a dragon... "But only until after the egg is here, darling. Don't get any ideas about keeping me as one."

A few weeks later, and the egg came. Rarity returned to normal, and continues to fuss over the egg. Neither of the parents are sure what's IN the egg, but they are sure they will love it regardless. Strangely, the egg seems to have a personality of it's own, rocking and rolling about and getting into trouble. It seems to like magic, so either Rarity will levitate it and rock it, or Spike will breathe his fire-magic on it. (Don't worry, it doesn't hurt it. That's what dragons do.) It's due-date is unknown, but the parents are hoping it's soon.
