It was Coronata's 4th birthday on the 12th of March so we had a mini photoshoot : )It's nice to see how much progress we have both made.

What changes/ progress have you made? I'm entirely clueless in the BJD arena, and all I can tell is that he has nicer hair and a more natural pose. And the lipstick is paler?

Okay, as far as the faceup goes in the first image his eyebrows are a lot thinner and don't vary in width. They're also a weird shape :/ He has a lot more red around his eyes and does not have the purple and black eyeshadow he has now. There is also a little bit of white on his new eye makeup, although that isn't as obvious in the photograph. The lips have gone from a dusty pink to a natural skin tone and his eyes have changed the direction in which they're looking. I'm also not sure that he actually has eyelashes in the original, whereas now he does ('real' eyelashes as opposed to painted ones.)
His red solid hands have been replaced by jointed hands that are properly painted rather than looking sore :/ He also has a slightly bigger body and so the outfit fits him a lot better - in the original image you can see where the sleeves are too long and the shoulders too big.
and then the changes/progress from my end is most in - as you say - the more natural posing of him but also the lighting, quality of photograph, field of depth and the backdrop :9

Well now that you point that all out and I look from left to right and back a number of times, I can see the effort that went into this! Do you have to buy new eyes and such, or do you do a lot of the painting yourself? The 2012 has a far more realistic gaze, and the moist-look lips makes him seem more lifelike.

You can buy new eyes, new wig, new everything :3 I have painted his face before myself, but his current faceup was actually my dream faceup? I've always wanted to send him away to get painted by *AndrejA and then a while back I decided to just go for it. Cost me an arm and a leg but his new faceup is so beautiful neh? *u*
The only thing that is the same between the two photos is the blank head, the outfit and the glass eyes :3

Haha - well he does have more darkness in his character. Coronata is like a slice of battenburg whereas Macarius is like an 80% dark chocolate and cherry truffle xD
