Ruby Rose from RWBY1st pencil, 2nd colored over pencil with overlays in photoshop, 3rd full digitally in photoshop
i really wanted to try using the same style that this pic --->images.wikia.com/rwby/images/4β¦ has, so first i did it in pencil because i've been doing a lot of traditional stuff lately and then brought it into photoshop and kinda did it half and half, the lines were clear and dark enough for me to do just the overlays with colors, and then finally fully digital witch is my favorite of the three
i love this coloring style, like wow it looks nice -w-
but its important to know how to do both traditional and digital

I think the digital is better because everything just looks less "noisy" (you know, with the rough paper/pencil texture everywhere), and more defined; gives a more professional feel than the traditional/hybrid ones to me. I like to use the hybrid style, but only because i can't make lines digitally.

traditional all the way! i started to dislike colouring digitally because everyone is doing that and when u colour traditionally you actually enjoy doing it fully!

But yeah, I really enjoy doing traditional art cause
U put more effort in the traditional than into a digital
Cause in digital u get help from a computer or photoshop
And in traditional it all depends on u

Really awesome! I like that you kept her shotgun/scythe/spear/jetpack/pogo stick the way it appears in the show, it helps to contrast all of the detail you put into her outfit and face!

Interesting experiment. Β What is gained with traditional vs digital. Β I enjoy the softer transitions in the digital version, but the vibrancy of the colors, such as the purple on the inside of the cloak is lost due to this extra blending. Β I like them both equally, but for different reasons

You could have added some detail to the black thing she is holding. Some shading or texture instead of a flat, one coloured shape.

i choose to have it that way, there is a bit a gradient but its very slight, i really just wanted it like the reference photo so it was by choice to do it that way ^_^

i looked through your gallery and its pretty nice, i can really see Mark Crilley in it though, which isn't a bad thing but before looking at the drawing more closely i thought you had just reposted his stuff, I'm really happy to see that you didn't do that ^_^, so my feed back for you is to try out different styles and maybe try different media (because you have a lot of pencil) but yeah keep up the good work owo/
