Just a few minutes ago, I had a spur-of-the-moment decision to start a new tradition and critique five deviations of my choosing as part of a Secret Santa thing that I believe looks very much like it could be a great idea; that's why I've decided upon this work of yours being the third of my five reviews over the holiday season. The views in my review are, obviously, merely my own journalistic speculation, so if ever I say anything just take it with a pinch of salt and a dash of sugar.
Vision: The fact that there's no mistletoe above the couple portrayed gives this picture a missing element that I think might be more psychological than physical, and I think that was intentional on your end with great positivity. Despite this, I have to admit personally that your way of telling a story through one drawing really pays off. Four and-a-half stars.
Originality: Though kissing under the mistletoe is about as common as a man or woman beating one's own dead horse, it never truly goes out of style as there's usually something genuine about it; nonetheless, what I mentioned earlier about the mistletoe not being present physically in your composition and only being there from a mental standpoint confirms in my mind that the New Twist On An Old Thing mantra can be implied and put to good use here -- and it is, albeit quite intelligently and very remarkably. Four stars.
Technique: Your style is incredibly accurate, both in terms of overall inspiration based on shows or movies you watch now or did in the past and in terms of your way of carrying out said inspirations in setting them to interpretive demonstration, and I can see it vividly here. If I could give it six stars, I would, but I'll give it five instead as that's the maximum DeviantArt's staff allows for a critique anyway and one simply does not go much higher than that. Five stars.
Impact: This leaves me really enthralled in some sort of unorthodox aspect as I genuinely feel reminiscent of times long time ago gone; as a result, the memories of past Christmases come back to me like a rerun of a really nice episode of Family Guy and subsequently warms my heart with glee simultaneously. Four stars.
Even so, I can tell you without a doubt that you definitely have it. Sure, there's always room for people to improve, but since your house is almost full it's safe to say that you don't really need to work on much of anything to improve as you've proven pretty much everything thus far; the master key, however, is continuing to prove these very things in different lights and fashions, and given what I see here you've probably already succeeded at that in a big way though you may not necessarily realize it yet. Fantastic job!
