So apparently, I'm following `Pyrochan-dolls ' trend of creating awesome fairy dolls with something immaterial for clothing.
I wanted to work on the idea of sylphs, fairies of air usually depicted with cirrus clouds for wings. I also wanted to depart just a little from the image of a tall-ish, pale fairy with long blond hair.
So here she is. Enjoy!
P.S. to the curious, her name means 'cloud' in my language.

Seriously though, I love her, her colors especially are so bright and cheerful, I love how you shaded her dress and wings. Your coloring skills always impress me.

It took me aaages to get the right color scheme. I think I sent you one of my trashed WIPs in the mail? I hated the colors on that one and had to change STAT. Funny enough, my own doll reminds me of [link] . :<

Except a lot of nightmares? Did I ever mention that, as a kid, I used to get nightmares of those dolls with realistic sleepy eyes, the kind that closes when you lie them down? xD

My childhood friend had a Charlie Chaplin doll that used to scare the heck out of me. I swear it felt like he was watching me, and that his eyes would follow me around the room.
I was never a big fan of dolls, I only had one or two that I was fond of, one was an adorable Cabbage Patch doll, with yarn hair, and the other was a Little Bo Peep doll. They were at least cute, and not scary.

I love your colour schemes! It's difficult to tell her skin is pixelled, it looks so smooth and so much like how skin should really look. I particularly like her neck and chest area and her face. Also the shades of blue/purple are just perfect. Good luck with the pageant.

It shows. I really like seeing how many wild colours you use in your dolls and how smooth everything looks when it's finished. I often wonder why I watch people with styles so different from mine and I guess it's just because artists like you do the kind of things I cannot, like pixelling and mastering colour. That's another reason for watching you, so I can learn from the best.

But I suppose there's the same reason why I like to watch a wide range of artists too. Aside from oogling at art, of course, there's so much to learn! Admittedly, though, my wild color inspiration is mostly `loish . Can't get enough of her funky, retro-ish art!

I see. Well I guess my main inspiration was Pyrochan (mine and almost every doller's inspiration, really) After seeing her full doll tutorial I realised I was limiting too much my skills and tried to go for something else. Add my dad's advice on adding black and white and that's how my style was born. I will always envy *tracyjb 's and *tattereddreams 's style, they're very different from each other, but both are equally inspiring.

Pyrochan, definitely! Her level of skill and concept is something all dollers aspire to.
The stark contrast in your shading makes your dolls look very dramatic and very unique. Not many dollers go for that.
Incidentally, I'm a huge fan of those two artists too! I actually have a huge list of artists who inspire me. It would take forever to go through the all. xD

Nice ! I like the iridescent/rainbow scarf and the contrast between her dark skin and the light turquoise blue you used... However, I think some parts of the dress are a little too sketchy or not smooth enough...

Well, it's beautiful, but it doesn't fit with the rest of the doll, it gives the impression of 2 different shading styles...

I was going for different textures, but I guess it's not working out as well as planned. xD I might get back to her soon, though. I wanted to add a background, but I just wanted to finish her for now.

Not really. It's excellent, well thought of and well executed. With all the amazing dolls in the contest, including yours, I can't be sure I'm even going to place. But that's the fun of contests!
Yes, getting great entries is always awesome... Until you have to get to the part where you pick a winner. Because mind you, different dolls are awesome in different ways. In my experience, judging for MDI, it's always frustrating to have to rank dolls as "better" than others when they're really all so good.
