I had a really weird dream last night that got me super inspired, so I spent the whole midmorning working on three paintings that show pretty much the key scenes of what happened.
I really like the whole idea of documenting my most interesting dreams (and nightmares) through the medium of visual art instead of writing them down in a notebook or something. It's probably the most direct approach to communicating the emotions connected to a dream, and it's also fascinating to create paintings based on more surreal subjects than usual. I went pretty haywire with the imagery and style on these three paintings and I'm extremely happy with the results, especially with the one in the middle! Plus it felt like a good way to rearrange my thoughts and get a clear head.

The question is how interesting this could be for you as the viewer! Would you like to get a short (or detailed) summary of the dream in order to know the whole context? Or does this whole subject not interest you at all? Feel free to write a comment, it would be cool to hear your opinion

EDIT: Okay, about the dream.
The background story was that the monsters were set free from the Underground after the Pacifist ending and the Player (me) lost their ability to reset. However, in cooperation with some monster scientists, we could create a special kind of echo flower that would give its carrier the ability to control time (one use only). It was only to be used under extreme circumstances, and the only people who carried one at the time when the dream took place were me and Sans.

The whole action of the dream took place at night in my home village, which is a tiny place in the countryside. All the places of action that I saw were familiar to me. At first I saw Sans hiding behind some bushes, obviously scared of something (there were no houses or street lamps in that area) as a car drove by on the street. He then went on, but another car approached quickly. That's when the crazy shit happened. The driver held a running chainsaw out of his window. Thats not just damn creepy but also pretty unrealistic because chainsaws are usually too heavy to be held with one hand, I think. Anyway, poor Sans got hit in the belly, the same spot that he would be hit during the genocide run. Before he died, he used the echo flower to turn back time and prevent his own death.

After that, there was a cut and in the next scene, I found myself in front of my own house. The outdoor lighting was burning, so the area around the front door was nicely lit. I pressed the doorbell, but it seemed to have been turned off. My family couldn't hear me and I didn't have a key, so I couldn't get inside. I sat down in front of the mailbox and waited. Occuring to my watch, it was around 4 AM in the morning. After some time, my Mum opened the door. She was just her usual caring self. As I gratefully entered the house, I said "I messed around with the timeline. Sans will be really angry at me." At that point, Sans had of course used his own echo flower himself to alter time, but dream-intern me didn't know. And that's when I woke up. Duh.
The weirdest thing about this dream was: While it may sound like a nightmare, it didn't really feel like one. I was scared and shocked at some points, and I could even feel Sans' pain when he was hurt, but at the same time, it was as if I knew that what I was watching wasn't real, just a story. I almost enjoyed it, as other people enjoy horror movies, because I knew that I was safe. It's hard to explain.

Anyway, this was a LONG summary... if you actually read this whole text, you are a very patient person. I hope that you could at least get some inspiration from it.

I know it's like 2 years later, but I didn't make a DeviantArt account until a few weeks ago, but I wanted to say that this is beautiful and I read your whole description of your dream, and I just got a sort of happy feeling that I'm not the only one who gets dreams like that, but can't really call them nightmares, like you described the feeling perfectly :>

This is very beautiful. I've had a dream about Undertale as well but Sans wasn't there. I was mainly with Gaster and a beaver monster with a pilot hat you usually see in old kind of movies. I got inspired to draw it because of this but will not be posting it at the moment. I will eventually though.

It's not that I'm patient, it's that I LOVE dreams! And yours was so cool! And the paintings!
The only good stories I ever created are all inspired by dreams I had. What would I do without them?

And the thing with the Echo Flowers... How could they be related to time traveling? Hmmm... Well, metaphorically, Echo Flowers make you travel to the past, as you can hear what happened around it before you arrived. Heh. Cool.

Thanks! And wow, that's actually a really interesting association - I had never thought about the echo flowers as links to the past, but it totally makes sense!
