WTF, no, really, wtf!!! I didn't remembered that way!!Once I finished painting Sailor Mercury today, I remembered long ago I had painted her, so I did a search for my really OLD files, and I found her. OMG, I promise that in my mind, she didn't look that way at all.
Ok, now I much more happy with my current Sailor Mercury painting
I was planing to do this for a long time, but I couldn't find the time to re-draw one of my old paintings, I hope I can do more like this comparing meme, because it's kind of fun, even more when I didn't look at the old drawing before painting the new one.

I love seeing these "Draw it agian' pictures.
What do you feel help you in advancing since 2012 plus any tutorials or tricks that you learned since then that boosted your skills?

I think I really didn't improve that much until last year. Before that I took some classes on oil painting, so that helped with the color part, but in digital things are different anyway. But last year I turned to drawing and painting to cope with health problems, and that's when I took it seriously.
For tricks, well, what works best for me is to take references, if I don't know how some type of fabric should look, or how hair should fall in some situations, I always research photos to understand how it should look.
And for human proportions, I still struggle with it. I'm not really good with lines, so my line drawings usually look weird and take me time, it's when adding shapes and volumes, when I realise thing's that aren't ok and try to fix them. I tell myself it's all a matter of time and practice, I suppose.

Thanks so much!! I'm doing my best to improve, I had in mind to do this meme with a couple other drawings I did in the past, from different years, and I still want to do those ones, hope it'll be soon.

Ooh, that's so awesome! It's amazing to see how far you've come. I was looking at some of my old art from second year (when I was 13-14 for all of you non-Irish people) and I sort of just descended into a puddle of internal despair because I used to think that stuff was so good

Thank you!!! I was in shock when comparing the two of them, even more because it was a last minute thing that I recall I drew this character in the past.
And yes, I totally understand, seeing old works and think "I loved this!!" but now seeing lot of imperfections
