Description ...is another person's treasure My character would see something like the rusted vehicle behind her as the potential for a restoration project. Hehe...

Meet my steampunk character, Valquiria Aceite (aka "Val"), resident Airship/Vehicle Mechanic, Aerodynamist, and Speed Enthusiast aboard the S.M.S. Zepherus: [link]

This outfit was based on my concept design which can be seen HERE . The bolero and overskirt are made of a thin ribbed cordoroy, and the bolero is lined in a pre-quilted brown cotton blend. I added the metal rivets on the bolero and overskirt. I've had some people say that the overskirt reminds them of a utili-kilt because (and it's hard to see with the corset and tool belt on) it has three bustle-looking sections on the front which are fully functional pockets and two pockets on the back. I did a lot of detail topstitching with embroidery floss, but again you can't see it with the belt on unless you look at the back of the skirt. The corn yellow broadcloth shirt underneath is a v-neck tank with an empire waist and ties around the back. I made the corset with a stripey cotton duck type fabric, lined in a heavy tan twill. It's fully boned with spiral steel with flat steel along the 14" busk and the antique brass grommets on the back. My mom knit the legwarmers and I sewed the buttons on. The only purchased parts were the leggings, goggles, and the steampunk hot rod pendant (I made the rest of the necklace). I still want to make detachable 3/4 length sleeves for the bolero and still have to make the aviator hat.

I designed the patterns for everything except the undershirt, and everything was sewn together by me
