Oh, so we have a new character! And the return of something more sinister.Just to let you know, the name of the teenage boy, Bretan, isn't because I was lost for names (Bretan the Breton?) No, actually while I was writing this arc, I was also reading "Dying of the Light" by George R.R. Martin, where one of the characters I enjoyed was named Bretan Braith, so I decided to name the boy after him.

And of course, the Forsworn are attempting spiritual brainwashing with Sissel. It does not surprise me as much as it might otherwise — underhanded plots like that are so like them, after all. But still! Erik had better be very careful with this new knowledge...

Saying that you don't belive in the Devine and saying you agree that they exist but not worshipping them are two thing different.
Though, I have a bad feelling about all this. And I'm not sure its a good idea to put someone as unstable as Madanach being a Jarl in a city that is already unstable.
Its like putting a torn card on a cart castle that is already very fragile. Not that I personally like the Silver Blood.... Nop nop nop .
Its ok, lot of people actually name their character after cannon character. I guess its a good way to honour our fav character

Well, Erik never said it. Bretan implied it. Erik's actually right now in a state where he doesn't know what to believe because of the sudden shift from the Nine Divines that he was born and raised with, and now having the thoughts of the All-Maker, a single god, play around in his head. It has to be confusing for the poor farmboy! But I'm sure he'll figure it out.
Oh yeah, it would be interesting to see Madanach as Jarl. It wouldn't be peaceful, that's for sure.
Well, I would say "interesting character" though Bretan here is a far cry from the Bretan in "Dying of the Light."

So... Erik's stopped believing in the Nine? Or does he still acknowledge their existence without necessarily worshiping them anymore? Those two things are radically different in a setting where Akatosh turned Martin Septim into a 200-foot flaming dragon that kicked Mehrunes Dagon's butt. Unless you're implying that the works of the Nine are not as they seem...
And now Sissel is being subjected to low-level brainwashing by the Forsworn. Is it bad that I'm not 100% sure how to feel about this? It's not really their Daedra worship or even their dark forbidden rituals I take issue with, it's their "kill all outsiders on sight" policy that's the problem. Maybe putting Madanach on the Mournful Throne would improve things.
And Hermaeus Mora is wasting no time in using the opportunity to tempt Jenna into becoming his champion. This ought to be good.
I did find Bretan's name odd at first, but your explanation makes sense. Can't very well name him Braith, or he'll go around challenging everybody to fistfights.

Erik's understanding of divinity will be explained further as he starts to understand that his beliefs have changed. Right now, he doesn't even realize there has been a shift in how he believes.
