Description The beautiful moments of a fisherman, to witness all the glory from the sun after a hard day's labor.

Sadly this shot were taken through a very busted ND filter (been around for long and have it's beauty marks) so the image have it's dents but I'm okay with that, gives it a nice history.

I've got a lot of requests during the years of joining sites and projects to create graphics and it's flattering. At the moment I don't have time for more "projects" due to I'm at my finals for the universe, which takes up a lot of time as well as my job. No time left for those fun things hehe. It's all out in late May and after that I'm seriously getting in the graphics/photography market. I am already but since I only have time to work 60-70% I don't get as much out of it as I'd like. That's soon to change!

I love it how it directs my eyes from the bottom to the top. Very nice colors and it didn't totally over expose or under expose, like some sunset shots do.

I tried to keep it well balanced. And "thanks" to my ND filter I managed but had had to sacrifice some detail 'n light, since it's a bad filter, sadly.
Thank you

I'm getting back into DSLR photography and I want to get some filters for mine and I was wondering what the ND filter does. I might have to pick one up. I'm hesitant to get one off ebay but I seen a Hoya 3 pack (uv/clp/nd) for like 60 bucks. Do you think it's worth it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ladyrapid In reply to xcartguy [2011-03-22 10:10:53 +0000 UTC]

The ND filter darkens a part of the image, for eample the sky so that you can have a more balansed exposure of land and sky, if you're shooting that. It allows you to take 1 exposure instead of 2 exposures to get both land/sky correct.

That pack was pretty decent in price. What type of ND filter is it?

NDx8? Well here is the ebay link for that set. I don't have a lot of money but I don't wanna get the worst brand or anything. I got the Olympus e-500 kit with 2 lenses and its 58mm I believe. Walmart has Sunpack, and Best Buy has Rocketfish, but I heard Hoya was really good. Thanks for the info btw

I knew right away when I took this shot, -"If I post it to DA, Mr Aussie would come runnin' hehe.

The whole scene were very serene, if you don't count the 200-300 cars that drove past through the bay area to witness the big moon we had that evening. A good 100+ meter or so there was a big crowd of people watching the moon (that rose up behind me) so It felt like they were all looking at me shooting the sunset.
I know I'm cool 'n all but the attention of that many people (as it felt like) were pretty funny. I wondered what they thought over there in the crowd. A whole bunch of people standing to watch the beautiful big moon and there, waaaay out on a bridge, a photographer standing, shooting NOT the moon... wierdo.

For those who didn't see, I might add to them that they missed a truly majestic sunset over the bay area indeed.

Chers Matt!

Chromattix In reply to ladyrapid [2011-03-21 00:00:53 +0000 UTC]

Lol, I'm too predictable and generous with comments then

Ahh there's only a few times a year you see the moon just starting to rise or set at the same time the Sun is doing the opposite, the purplish colour of the horizon contrasting against a magnified deep-yellow moon is always amazing to see

Big crowds make me uncomfortable, I just feel like everyone is watching me when they all really have their own things to focus on, so I don't think I could ever be a photographer even if I wanted to, especially in public places It's also why I never draw in public either even though people say "real artists take a sketchbook everywhere and study their surroundings" - I don't want the attention while on the job, but I don't mind it afterwards
