Hahahah, this is so much more like, a progression of me getting the hang of painting in SAI... xD
But really, this meme was a perfect way for me to illustrate Seth's--well, his whole life, really! So, here we are: Seth, the main character of my novel Iris.
Kudos to anyone who bothers to read my babblings, hahahah... ;v;

8 YEARS OLD:
Seth was born a half-blood angel and spent his early years living with his mother and his sister, both full-blood angels. He had a peripheral and strained childhood, but a happy one nonetheless. He simply learned from an early age to keep to himself: once Seth badly skinned a knee and came home tracking blood onto the carpet--he saw the look on his mother's face when she entered the room only to freeze before slowly backing out again. He listened to her crying in the kitchen and apologized, limped into the bathroom and took care of it himself. He assumed that the sad look she got whenever she looked at him had to do with his absent father, and never asked about it.
His little sister was everything to him, and his mother told him he was her guardian: someone who watched over and protected her, but always from a distance.

He is still haunted by the fact that he was unable to protect his sister the day his family was murdered, and himself almost with them, at the age of twelve.

13 YEARS OLD:
Seth was found and raised by Samuel (formerly Camael), a former priest of the Order highly skilled in Sigology. Samuel saved Seth's life and taught him the basics of Sigology but also how to fight: all of his innocence gone, Seth became obsessed with getting revenge on the man who'd murdered his family, a man that Samuel later revealed to Seth to be none other than his own father.

19 YEARS OLD:
At the age of 17 Samuel disappeared, leaving Seth to fend for himself. Seth ended up in the Underground, a Demi-based section of the city where the State's laws held little ground. In his years down here Seth met many interesting people, but though he continued to search for his father, he never found him. His body began to act up, leading Seth to carving sigils into his own arms in a desperate attempt to take away the pain, temporary though it may be. The lowest point in Seth's life, he gave up on revenge and almost on living, but was eventually pulled out of it by several forces, one of which came in the form of Maeve, a human doctor intruiged by Seth's condition and who eventually gave him a prescription that helped bring his body under control.

25 YEARS OLD:
Seth moves back above and resigns himself to a quiet life just scraping by--his skill in sigology and knife-fighting gives him an edge in the odd-end jobs that he often finds himself doing for a centaur named Rouka. He's mostly lost his aim in life, however, and is increasingly frustrated by the face he sees in the mirror. He's waiting for something to happen, but he doesn't know what...

NOTES:
-The band around his neck is his seal, carved by Samuel.
-Being right-handed, Seth has more sigils on his left hand. They're really just overlapping slash marks, not any intricate or elegant design, and actually pretty shameful for him--he usually wears gloves to cover them up.
-He is completely incapable of dealing with women, a fact that Maeve happily abuses.
-You would think that having to cut his own hair his whole life would make him fairly capable at it, but, nope. He sucks at it.

And yes, I am leaving out a fair portion of his life--the years he spent living in the Underground, which I hope to be able to one day cover in a sequel/prequel to Iris.
