I like the coloring in the second and third panels especially - the kinda-smokey look of the armor in the second panel is nice, and the folds of the tunic are well-done in the third. I may have beat you, but you had a lot more to color than I did. And - oooh - drama in the high court! Dun dun duuuun.

The effect is still cool, though. I do like it. And don't we just love frustration with coloring? *dies from light color shading*

Of course we do. Nothing better in the world than frustration with coloring.

Thank you.

You're very welcome! Hey, but at least it'll get better as one does it more. *crosses fingers*

Hopefully. It should at least become respectable after 8 more pages or so.

It's not entirely mine.
Yeah, if I don't procrastinate it might actually be done by the end of summer.

Wahoo! That would be cool to see the end of it. I've never been motivated enough to start a comic of my own.

Get a friend to help.
Being able to do a school writing piece with more pictures than words, and receiving credit= motivation enough.
I've started many comics- I've only finished 2- this one and one similar to it.
You could probably do one for Claire and Tobias. You have enough things to pull from

True, this. I lied about not doing a comic; I did a five-page one for an English project once.
I could do one for Claire and Toby, now that you mention it. That would be interesting, to say the least, and it would help get a grip on their characters... hmm...
That's a really good idea.

The one for making a comic based on Toby and Claire. That would be lots of fun.

Yes. Or they can speak any other human language. They're spread out all over the world.
Also, I've been thinking - heaven forbid - and I'm debating him coming from Boston or Las Vegas, now. I kinda wanted him to be a little out from the West... I dunno, though. I'll have to keep mulling that over.

...wouldn't humans want to hold on to such a nice big city like that, though?

I figured there'd be plenty there for a Rat kid to get into trouble. XD Toby can sniff out trouble like one wouldn't believe.
Nooo. It's not a good defendable spot. They made new cities, pretty well walled forts of large size. They'd leave behind the old ones to get to nice, walled cities.

-.0 And leave behind all the nice casinos?
To make a walled city, all you have to do is build a wall around the city. Or across the roads and between buildings. Especially when there's a lot of buildings to choose from.

This is true, but one must also remember that it's assumed that the Weres are familiar with the cities in question and that there are sewer entrances, etc., that something like a Rat or Raven can exploit if they're familiar with the layout of the city. It would be so much better if the humans made their own city - completely new - so that such things can't be taken advantage of.

Laitrisef In reply to Mnemonides [2009-05-31 17:57:35 +0000 UTC]
I'm surprised they didn't blow up the cities after they left- so that such things can't be taken advantage of.
There will be sewer entrances no matter what kind of city you build, else every time it rains, it floods. Also, high walls wouldn't stop ravens, so...
Also, humans have blueprints of the cities, do they not?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Mnemonides In reply to Laitrisef [2009-06-03 17:51:39 +0000 UTC]
They could've blown them up, but sometimes people just aren't that smart. Or they're in too much of a hurry. *shrug*
This is true, but the trick is hiding them so that no one can find said sewer entrances.
High walls may not stop Ravens, but domed ceilings may.
Humans would have blueprints for both old and new cities, yes, and weres and vampires might have them for the old cities. Chances are none of the supernatural freaks (kind nickname, that) would have new city blueprints.

Laitrisef In reply to Mnemonides [2009-06-03 18:53:48 +0000 UTC]
But my point is, couldn't humans have easily fortify the old cities? It would have been more cost-effective to plug up holes and create a domed ceiling, rather than start over from scratch. (And you have to admit, cost-effectiveness is greatly appealing to humans)

True, this. But the fear factor (they should make a show about that) would be motivating, too. How do you know that they haven't infiltrated the cities? The panic of the general populace may have forced the leaders to create the cities. Or, the leaders may have created them and people flock to them because of the fear.
I'm not entirely sure because I'm not the mastermind behind this. These are just my guesses as to what the reasoning is behind leaving the cities.

Hrm. That's an idea. A good one, too- I have no counterarguement to that.
So what happened to all of humanity's treasures, like art, relics, and stuff.
Would they leave it all behind?
Would the Were and Vampires bring their own cultural stuff into those cities, or just take them over and be done with it? Do the Were & Vampires even bother with preserving cultural artifacts?
