Description Had to think of Freddy Mercury while painting this.. I think a god of thunder should be a bit glam rock

Taranis was a Celtic god of thunder, mostly worshipped in the Gallic area during the Roman age (usually not worshipped by Romans obviously as he is a Celtic god).
His attributes include a bolt of lightning and the wheel, as he was also a protector of traders. Since I found it hard to get the wheel in the painting itself I included it in the border.
Taranis is now best known by the comic series Asterix.
The outfit is genuine Celtic of that era.

I put this in the category Fantasy but in fact this is a historical/mythological painting. Just wanted to clear that up

Yes very beautiful but one aspect of his cult was disturbing. He demand sarifices from living humans. His priests burn humans alive as sacrifice.
