This was 7 seconds. If I remember correctly, there were 2 bolts at the same time, and another two bolts at the same time just a couple seconds apart. funny, i think i actually let go of the shutter just as 2 or 3 more bolts struck. this was a very very active storm. I think i have about 30 lightning photos from this storm, but most of the strikes were just off the frame since I had only a small view of the sky from the front yard.

Nice. i keep mine open for about 4 seconds but set it for a 10 shot burst. I hate that when the hapen out of frame, you don't want to move the camara cause who knows were teh next will be.
I just lernd how to us my camara to captur them and now all i have to do is convince my naighbor she wants to cut down all her trees so i have a better view next storm.

I hear you! we had to move ultimately to a country setting for my small astronomy hobby (and for more space too), and a clear view of storms will also be a wonderful side effect. Now I just need storms. been a lowsy year here for storms.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I am not sure what the original one looked like but the framing in this shot is flawless! I can't believe you caught that many strikes in one shot! I would love to get a lightening shot like this one day!

Thank you!

The orginal wasn't much different, just a little more trees/shubs underneath and some various city lights shining though.

This would look even more amazing if you cropped the bottom (above most of the bushes and the lights). The lights and the bushes distract from the tree and the lightning which make for an excellent pair of subjects! Way to go!

If you even put up a cropped version, let me know!

Well hows this. I hadn't given this one a lot of thought. I don't have the original raw to work with since it was with a camera that was difficult to shoot raws with, plus it wasn't a very good overall scene to work with. Really just the number of strikes in one shot made it interesting. I rotated it slightly, cropped it, and adjusted the color tone just a bit.
