Description The new Hero's Shield and Razor Sword for my Young Link figure.

The figure was sculpted using Super Sculpey, and painted with Modelmaster acrylics. The joints are a compilation of Revoltech joints, Hobby Base joints, Kotobukiya ball joints, and scrapped joints from figures I hadlying around. The figure itself stands almost EXACTLY 4 inches tall. The face is removable, allowing for different expressions (of which I have yet to sculpt), a long with his hat, allowing for different, more dynamic posing effects. He currently has 6 incherchangeable hands; 3 for his right, and 2 for his left.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note!

These are awesome accessories for the figure. How long did it take to make the figure and the accessories?

Everything was done on and off, I procrastinated a lot. Took around 6 months altogether, though.

Cool. This tells roughly how long it will take to make a link of my own. I'm planning on using fimo air dry paints of various and the joints will be salvage from my bits box. But i was wondering if it would be possible to make a sword and shield out of plastin. By cutting it and shaping it with a dremmel or would that not work?

That'd work fine. If anything, use styrene (plastic sheets). When I made this, I was pretty amature in comparison to what I can do now.

Local hobby store, and if not, online.

Thanks. Hey how you start making custom figures?

Custom figures or scratch builds? Custom figures, I usually start off fixing a few things then do everything...

Scratch builds I plan beforehand, sometimes sketch them out, etc.

Cool. I'm currently working on a custom Link figure. The body is partly spiderman's and the tunic, legs, boots, hair and cap as well as parts of the arms ar made of fimo air dry.

Nice, can't wait to see it. Make the tunic out of plastidip, it'll be pliable.

Do you use any tools to shape the details? Back in high-school I made a statuette of Link out of... I forgot what it's called... it's a yellow box with individually wrapped colored rectangle pieces of "clay." Anyway, it came out pretty bad because I did everything by hand. What would you recommend using? All I have is a standard X-ACTO.

An exact-o's a good start, but you may want to head over to a local hobby shop and buy general sculpting tools. Make sure they're metal based.

I like the detail you put into it. Must be tough.
