Thanks! I usually start with a really rough lineart, and set the mood of the piece with a flat colour background. Then I start slapping colour on top of it - first the flat colours, then indicating the light source through simple highlights and shadows on the forms. After that it's just a matter of blending the colours! It's more intuitive than anything, which comes from lots of practice. I hope what I said made sense... x'D
