How heavy was it? I'm planning on making one for a con in a few months time and I'd love if I could actually carry it around with me without dying!

It wasn't that bad but it is about 30-40 lbs. You could use lighter weight materials and it would probably work out better?? Like fiberglass?

Hm. I wonder how expensive that would be? I will definitely check out some lightweight puiping though; that looks like the best place to start.

Yeah I just went with pvc.. which is kind of heavy but inexpensive. Fiberglass is cheap I think.. just go to home depot!

are you allowed to take it with you on cons? o_O I don't know how it is arranged in america, but in germany you mustn't take weapons with you that are taller than 1 meter ._.

Yes you may take props, as big as you want, as long as you have it inspected by a certain desk at the con; to make sure it isn't dangerous.

I made it out of pvc pipe, pipe connectors, basle wood, real gun and water guns parts. And the base of the gun is a carpet ripper. Are you planning on making one??

Yeah its pretty heavy.. but i work out so its not a big prob for me. hahahaha.
You might consider using fiber glass!!! You can make it the shape you want. Or theres styraphome or cardboard lol. I used styraphome to make her other gun :] i have a pic of it on here i think

I considered both, but I want the gun to be as realistic as possible (aside from real meatal, of course. that would be an ordeal!)

oh yeah.. then you might stick with a light wood? that would be the easiest to work with. I hollowed out the recantcle of wood so it would be lighter.

Yup that would be the best thing! And remember to make it like colaspse-able..haha so you can take it places..or fit it through doors ;]

hahah thanks! yea i have heard it a few times..
I built it with pvc piping for the barrel(from home depot), cheap real gun parts (you can get a walmart!), water gun parts, light wood for the stock, and pipe connectors for the end of the barrel and connecter parts
