Description More of that fan-mix/Eibon inspired feels art. Because in my mind, Maka was really upset about the whole 'Kid is captured and living in a book' type deal. And canonly, she is a very protective person who cares a lot about her friends, so this isn't THAT incredibly OOC. I really think that during this story arc, she might have had more of a chance to re-evaluate her friendship with Kid and miss it a little more, since in my experience, you never know a good thing til its gone.

So I drew her in what was supposed to be her room (but I got lazy with the backgrounds so it's pretty non-specific) rereading her copy of the Book of Eibon since she actually did have it in the story arc- and I think that it would be a lot like her to try to do anything and everything in her power to help a friend. Sorry that I also got lazy with the book and forgot to put words on the page, but I don't wanna write in Witch right now- whoops lol. She has her skull clips on the desk that remind her of him and I think she's looking at a picture (haha- laziness in the details again) of her, Kid, Blackstar, and Soul all being main characters together, and she's just sitting there missing the friendship.

SORRY. I HAVE THIS PLAYLIST OF REALLY EMOTIONAL SONGS THAT NEVER FAIL TO PUT ME IN A FEELSY MOOD, SO PLZ IGNORE MY CHEESINESS RIGHT NOW.

This specific drawing was inspired by 'Candles' by Daughter, and since I found it through the Super Secret KiMa Fanmix by paleocat, it seems only fitting that I should take a decent song and convert it to KidMa. Even though I know that the actual meaning of the song is about something else, I personally like to interpret it as Maka staying up late at night reflecting back on Kid, missing him, but then having to go to bed and blowing out the candles. Its stupid, I know, but that's okay for me since my shipping brain is stupid.

And jfc do I love digital editing systems... my original drawing for this was pretty okay. I did Maka in all colored markers and the furniture in grey and brown markers so they wouldn't stand out as much, and then went over it in colored pencil so I could tint the light better- kind of like what I did in 'My Adorable Bookworm'. I liked it, but because I don't have all that many markers and pencils, the colors were nowhere near where I needed them to be. But after I scanned it, increased shadows by a lot, exposure by a little, reduced the temperature, and added a tint, this thing happened, and now it looks pretty close to how it looked in my head. Someday I swear I'm gonna post a collage of some of my drawings that just got 100% better with digital editing, I swear..... Digitizing my art has saved my life.

Well, if you don't mind me, Imma go draw some more (hopefully with a happier playlist) and blow out some candles. Until next time- bai! ^^

This is very well done! The shading is amazing (like always with your work..), and I looove the way you made the candles look realistically glowing like that! I say its very well done ^.^

Colored pencils are awesome at light tints and light reflected shading, but I cannot use them to do a piece entirely because then it looks really scratchy and awful.

XD

Sorry, I like talking about my art supplies a lot for some reason. (Just be glad I didn't whip out the headcanon or font related talks).
