Wauuugh, I still don't understand how you can get the fur to gradate that softly, I can't make it work digitally at all!
But I love how that aesthetic is present throughout your work, regardless of the medium. (I have a feeling I've said that before, oh dear... 
Even if this character is like a werewolf, she still feels quite original to me!

Hmm, maybe you're using the wrong brush?
I use the basic round, with "other dynamics" and "smoothing" turned on, turning off "shape dynamics" and setting it to ~65%ish opacity and flow. This results in a big, soft, round brush, and while it doesn't go to a point, it produces some really nice "streaky" gradients that you can refine into fur on another layer.
