100 themes - "Snow"I've been reworking her beasty form lately, trying to make it less "stereotypical anthro wolf" and more... something else. I'm not sure if I completely like this as a final design, but I feel it's a step in the right direction.
EDIT: added snow. DUH, why wasn't that in there in the first place. Also patched up that hideous front arm a bit.

To be honest this looks almost like an elven wolf with the ears. And not stereotypical by a long shot. She has a rather graceful and noble feel to her as well. Plus I love the lighting in this piece.

Well, we can't have the "snow" theme without snow... right?
Plus, it was feeling just a bit empty to me. The snow helps add a bit of atmosphere.

lovely, maybe making the neck thick and long while shortening the back legs would make it seem more monster-ish, rather than a more human figure, make it depend on his front legs way more.
i dunno just sayin

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I was actually going for something like that, I just ended up screwing it up as I worked out the pose. @_@
The back legs really bug me actually, they look really odd and out of place, especially with the huge furry forearms. Not to mention I completely screwed up the proportions (hellooo huge head...) - that's not doing it any favors either.
But yeah, It;s actually good that you can see a bit of human form in there... even if my execution sucked.

Beautiful! I always love animal creatures when they don't tend to be human like, but still have something realistic! This is one nice example!
By the way, you might like the style of my friend , because she is (in my opinion) very talented in making non-anthro fantasy wolf like beasties... (if you still understand what I mean haha, what a huge definition)!

Yeah, I don't think this looks like a typical anthro wolf. It looks more like the hunched over werewolf type to me. But the nose and feet help to separate it from the pack. Pun only somewhat intended. It also seems somewhat deer like, for some reason. I think it's the nose. It reminds me of a deer skull. It's cool.

Ideally, I'd like to get to a place where she wouldn't be associated with a wolf at all... but that's probably not possible without altering a lot of her core traits. Being thought of as "werewolf-ish" is a lot better than being thought of as an "anthro/furry" though, so that's nice to hear. ;D
I think a lot of my creatures tend to come out looking rather deerlike, actually. It probably has something to do with the eye placement, nose and tapered snout. o_o

She reminds of me of a lynx, but their is a hint of fox in her face..
If there's any wolf at all in there, it's in her fur, mainly on her back. Without that fur, however, it would take away from the sense that she's this great, powerful beast who can withstand any cold temperature you throw at her. (Unless you weren't going for that look.)
But that's just my opinion.

Hmm, yeah, I can see where you're getting that.
The fur on her back/neck is very wolfy indeed, and as much as I'd like to; I really can't take it away... I've tried it before, and she just looks incredibly silly without it.
