I've never seen a variety different than red.

Really?  This is the first one I've ever seen.  I don't see them in my home state.

In my country they're grown as annuals.

Really?  What country are you from if you don't mind me asking?  I live in Arizona in the US.  Though I took the photo while on Negros island in the Philippines.

It depends how you define cold... In winter it's mostly around 0C (32F), rarely it gets down to -15C (5F). I'd say that climate changes.

That's sound unbearably cold to me.  Of course I can barely stand the winters in Arizona.  The summers I can handle though even if it's hard sometimes.   Where I live in Arizona The winters I believe get about 30 maybe 20f at night.   Of course even during the day when it's about 40f I'm pretty much always wearing a jacket in the winter.  Sometimes a few.  Depends how could it gets.  The summers may be harsh at 115f but I'd take that over the cold any day.

Around 50 years ago frosts were for the whole winter (I mean well below 30F). This year it's between 30F and 50F...

Maybe due to global warming?

Quite possible. I don't deny the climate change.
