Description
Like I said, when I fly back from Norway these days I draw on the plane. I sketch ideas which later, if possible, become complete art.... and the first thing that I sketch is an impression of the scenery as the plane takes off. It's like one last wonderful glimpse, one last beautiful experience. Until next time, that is.
So this time I was really lucky, it was a beautiful day, the mountains under the golden sunlight were more than spectacular. I always try to remember the light and atmosphere and recreate it. I dare say I did quite well here, this is much as dramatic as it really was.... I remember the stark fiery sunlight on cold snowy mountains and cliffs, I remember the windblown fringe of snow atop a low nearby mountain shining from the backlight, I remember the distant fjords and mountains swimming in gold so bright and radiant that it feels like the air itself has turned into sunlight. In short, I am quite happy how this turned out. Plus, it has been more valuable practice of mountains and scenery.
So this is Straumsfjord. The mountains are once again not exactly accurate, but that's off the point. I think at least two are still recognizable, Bentsjordtinden and BlΓ₯ruttinden behind it, under the sunrays. There is, of course, a recognizable dragon as well I hope you enjoy.
