Oh look, it's a squirrel :3 Something like an elephant, but the other way around. 10 points to whoever catches the reference :3Nothing much to this one really. I saw a photo. I liked it. I liked it so much I felt like drawing it. And that's saying a lot because I don't usually draw squirrels. Well.... just from time to time, for special occasions
But this one looked promising and interesting, too, because of lighting and backlit fur and floof, and oh that eye. So yeah, felt like an interesting thing to draw. So here we go, my first detailed squirrel. Enjoy!Reference photo:

Well first of all you picked a beautiful individual to do a portrait of but hiiiiing the shine on the fuuuuuuur!!! CHAMPION! Gosh I really love this piece! Also the anatomy is great and I personal have always found small rodents to be difficult to draw... *drawn some rats for friends...* These little round balls of fur on these tiny legs and itty-bitty fingers has always been a challenge for me. As you know I have a bias for things long and lanky lol... but I do love these little guys and I love seeing arts and such relating to them. The individual was not this species but, where I work I got to know the squirrels around our building and recognize them a bit. We had one individual who was a really beautiful rustic red, like this guy. That one was always particularly shy and skittish where others were more used to us coming and going and less likely to spook and run. But I really loved seeing the little red one, thought that individual was so unique.

Thank youuuuuuu! Ah, yes, the photo captivated me, both with the very squirrel and with the lighting, the shine, yessss, what is better indeed than a backlit shiny fur 
Yeah, I came to realize that (I've hardly ever drawn rodents before, except in sketches or something), and I can spot some mistakes in the anatomy too.... but it's not bad for a first try in squirrels XD
I wonder.... if the more vibrant fur was why he was so shy. Makes sense in relation to predators, you know, the more vibrant color usually means he will be more easily seen. But if he was so cautious, chances are nothing bad happened to him ;3
