Part 3 of my art trade withΒ johnnyspade611, who has since departed from dA. See also Ave Maria and Melts in Your Mouth .This concludes the Maria trilogy! Last time I cast Misty as the senior figure counseling Maria on BBW self-esteem, and this time I wanted to cement their BFF bond in a situation where Maria enjoys the upper hand. Somehow she talked Misty into joining the blue hair club -- even though Misty's notoriously fussy about her lush brunette locks and isn't exactly thrilled with the Atomic Turquoise dye job. Obviously Maria thinks it looks awesome on her new pal, but Misty's gonna be heading to Walgreens for a bottle of Loreal Dark Mahogany Brown post haste. Sometimes it's fun to show girls doing girl stuff instead of the sexy glamour poses.

My favourite colour is blue, so I'm not going to object the way Misty seems to want to, but at the same time, I can see why she wants her chestnut locks back. Both girls look fine, but I like Misty's bigger, and definitely fatter and softer belly more, but Maria's top works better in this pic. A good job all around. (Pun not intended, but it fits the look so well.)

Nope! She was not a happy camper. I always have her smiling and upbeat, so it's fun to show other emotions from time to time.

Awesome work here. Sexy as hell and the two characters work perfectly together - its one of those few renders where it actually comes to life. My criticism of digital art is that it can often look "frozen in time". This is the thig I struggle at with my work - with this pic I can almost picture them together and this is just a snap shot of alot of action. Very nice

Thanks, that's very high praise. I try hard to avoid that "digital mannequin" look. I think the key is getting good facial expressions, especially the eyes. I take great care to make sure the eyes are accurately aimed at whatever person or object the character is supposed to be looking at. That's what makes me feel like they come to life instead of vacantly staring into the distance. The snapshot look is my goal!

What an interesting idea! Maria is so cute, getting Misty to dye her hair like her own. These two definitely make a great duo. I don't think Maria could ever convince Claire to change her hair color
What a great way to finish it off. I must say, I am very impressed with all 3 images, and I think this art trade was a great succes. I can see Maria and Misty having fun together again in the future. I'm sure I'll end up doing sketches of them again, just for fun.

Thanks! I agree, the trade worked out huge on both sides. This one was tough because at first I wanted to have the girls standing in front of a full-length mirror, so you could see them from behind plus their reflections, but the composition was a nightmare. Then I realized Misty should just look at a hand mirror and it all fell into place. I nailed my original vision of Maria laughing on tippy-toes to brush Misty's hair -- I just had to give up the rear views.
It's funny, I thought for sure this would be the least popular of my three, since girls fixing their hair isn't sexy or exciting like bikini poses. But it's a huge hit for some reason. Go figure! I'm just glad the people like it.

It just proves that you don't need half naked women for it to be good. Plus, the two lovely ladies together, plus your skill, makes it an awesome picture
