A DISNEY GIRL FOR EVERY NATION is a series I invented thinking about Disney movie settings and characters' nationalities. I decided to represent every Disney girl with a typical costume of her nation and the corresponding flag on the background. Nationalities are based on movies, and when the settings isn't mentioned (like in the Little Mermaid or in Snow White) I considered the author's birthplace (Andersen from Denmark and The Brothers Grimm from Germany).I found most of informations in this italian forum topic: [link]
Pocahontas and Tiana are represented as a native and a cowgirl.

No. The setting for Pocahontas was in Ontario. Just passing in the Hudson river. History also shows that Pocahontas is from Canada.

No man, it was in Virginia in 1607, the founding of Jamestown, the first English settlement in America. The dudes right. We also don't seem to have a Canadian Disney icon either.

That's like saying the earth is all Canada. Everything was once Canada! The earth moves! IT ALWAYS MOVES.Β OK you know what, this conversation is literally going no where. It's really pointless. Just go correct yourself in history, and I'll be working on my own stuff.

What? That's not at all what I was saying! Canada basically sold alaska because the 'settlers' didn't need the extra land and saw no use in it.

Look up your history! Russia colonized Alaska! And it was called RUSSIAN ALASKA or ALYESKA, which is where the name Alaska comes from! It means "the great land"! British Columbia was a seperate British colony that was settled in the 1700s by the HBC, they didn't know what was far north till the Russians made they're claims and that maps included "Russian America" as part of North American geography. Canada didn't reach the Pacific till after the confederation was established, which is where the colonies of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia unite themselves as the independent state that is Canada. British Columbia joined in 1871, around the time of the completion of the Canadian Pacific rail line which was at the point Canada reached the Pacific. Russia sold Alaska to the United States on March 30th 1867 due to financial issues and the fear that the British would seize control of the North-west peninsula. If all of this information doesn't ring a bell, than I have no idea what will.

(I just find this funny because when my dad was in Germany everyone asked about cowboys and stuff--they wanted to know if he was a cowboy, if he knew any cowboys, if there were lots of rodeos...)
