Let’s not forget which side has the bewitching bell. They could just absorb the “friendship laser” and use it against the Mane 6 so that they couldn’t use it effectively.
Heck, how come they didn’t do that with Twilight? They had her right there and could have done it to her.

Well, that would have probably actually been an interesting plot point. If Twilight had her magic absorbed, she couldn’t have teleported away from the scene without her journey being interrupted.
And if she somehow found a way to teleport all the way to the Crystal Empire, perhaps she would have had to go by land... and perhaps get her passport denied, so perhaps her epiphany moment would occur at the border post, but perhaps she’d need to tap into her inner villain and try bribing the border guards.
