Smooth shading with H pencils can be tricky. For soft shades on small areas I often use a blending stump that's already loaded with graphite and start adding shades with that after applying just a little bit of shade with the H pencil. Or for bigger areas I start with a HB pencil and add the lowest value it can give me, then I soften the tone with a clean blending stump. Maybe these tricks can help you a bit.

Hey there, everything looks great in this one! The eyes in particular are very well made. Maybe the skin is a little too white, but anyways, it seems to suit the picture.

Yeah, really good, it's difficult to get that kind of lining with charcoal, I find. (I'm assuming it is charcoal...?). And I love the contrast, it's very striking. x
