Last minute, I know, but there's actually a reason behind the madness on that. Besides the holidays kicking me around a bit more than expected, I wanted to give some time on both the poll and discussions of costuming I've been having with Samantha. The results are in, and I'm casting my own private vote (which counts for double. I am her artist after all. ^.~). And the finale viewpoint seems to be basically a tie between the Kung Fu/Ninja-themed martial outfit ( Samantha Grey Uniform Option 1 ) and the mystical superheroine themed outfit ( Samantha Grey Uniform Option 3 ). Yes, that means I put my vote in on the Martial Artist's outfit. I wanted to sort of settle that before doing this piece, which is a large part of why I've waited two months to get around to a group shot for Alpha Team.

What does this mean? Well, for one? I liked the Mystic approach for this picture, so I featured Sam using that outfit. For another? This means that I'm probably going to start incorporating something akin to a 'wardrobe' of sorts with Samantha. In public moments, she will frequently put the jacket, tunic and breeches on to look more the part of one of the Thunder Force's resident mystics. When on stealth missions, she will put on the martial artist's outfit. And in workout sessions? I'll probably drag the savate thing out, because it's sort of a fun look for being in the war room, but not very good as a public uniform.

I'll be updating her profile in January, when I hopefully finally finish Liberalitas, so we can get on with her story-arc in the three-team force part 2. The update will show her in the Ninja uniform, and will contain links to her original outfit, workout and the mystic. Artists drawing her are free to use whichever one they wish. I will personally be sticking to the two outfits consistently, selecting whichever is appropriate based upon the type of job.

After looking things over, it seems that my fans and fellow artists were basically on board with a stylistic change for her outfit once I showed what I was actually thinking of doing (Only 1 vote for the original look after all, and 28 votes is pretty good for me.). However, there was a lot of breadth of opinion between artists of what they wanted. Within that, though, two pieces clearly stood out as preferred by the wider majority, and several who may be drawing her more often preferred one of those two. So, I decided that there was no reason to refuse to do either, and kept both. This leaves artists the option to do whichever they prefer for their purposes. However, the mystic does need a little cleaning up first before finalization (For one, I need to make sure it's less "Skirt-like" and more "Tunic-like.")

The 'armored look,' while logical, is the odd man out. Even with adjustments, I think it doesn't quite work with what I'm going for, so I'm putting it to pasture.

Anyway, this was a fun piece to do. McGray is going to be an interesting challenge for me, and I'm going to have fun perfecting drawing him. The rest of the team I'm getting used to, and enjoying drawing. Looking forward to doing more with this group.
