Mayan glyphs read right to left:
ya-ah-la "her mother's child"/ ye-be-ta "his messenger"/ ek-yi "star war" ek y-otoot "fire venus" "in her house" hul ool-wa "arrive at heart"/ japay/way "maw, portal to the Underworld"/ way-ib "dreaming place"/ chum-ajaw ti chan "sit as ajaw in heaven"/ t'abay-y aj-ts'ib-ba "ascend raise exalt" "the scribe"/ aj-k'uh-hun-n(a) "she of the holy books(codices)"/ "29 days"/
Underneath the Mayan glyphs runs a band of "duats" the Egyptian glyph for star, or, when encircled a portal to the underworld. the other stars pictured are pentacles (otherwise know as pentagrams) in honor of the lovely Venus and her constant tracing of the same symbol across our sky, reaching completion every 8 years.

I think you are my new favorite 'visionary' / psychedelic artist. I hope you keep posting new work here so I can follow your evolution. For some reason, the pose/gaze in this work reminds me of some of the 3/4 portraits by Albrecht Durer --maybe a coincidence or maybe an intentional or subconscious reference--but cool! I like that I can keep looking and seeing new things (the Frida-esque heart), and that you refer and allude to lots of things but it feels fresh not borrowed. AND (since you asked for commentary) I see from this to later portraits/works not just growing skill with the graphite but also an increasing ability to include LOTS of detail without anything feeling cluttered (as some bits in this perhaps feel), and a constantly growing skill at mixing, um, 'idioms' (maya glyphs, swirls and rabbits, asian /buddhist clouds, ayahuasca 'map' designs, and modern 'psychedelic' motifs, etc.) without anything seeming contrived or out of place.

Hi, sorry for the delay in my response- so lets discuss this a little more... do you want it to be rectangular still? Or sort of faded out at the edges? The design will have to be simplified and changed for a tattoo design. What colors were you thinking of? Are you still interested in having me create this for you?

Faded would be lovely and the brighter the better. I am a HUGE fan of cyan and purple and as little pink as possible would be lovely. I am still interested if you are able to incorporate the words "Life flows on within you and without you" in there some where. Those words from the Beatles hold a lot of meaning for me. If not, I understand.

Your knowledge of truth flows through all of your art. Your connection to your higher self/ higher consciousness becomes clear through the sacred geometry that is clearly seen. After I read your description it became clear you too practice deep meditation and opening of the chakras. She puts her heart (showing) and possibly her soul (her eyes are blank) into what she does....a single tear, not for herself......
The only part I don't like is the blankness of her pupils.....
