Description Here is a thing I threw together today! I focused more on my method than the ins and outs of the software, since there's plenty of other resources for that. Let me know if you have any questions!

I've been wanting to use textures in Maelstrom, but I haven't because of copyrights--so this is extremely helpful!Β  I'll have to try these techniques out on texture-y photos I've taken.

The whole process of it is really fun. :3 I love collecting textures while walking around old buildings or going on hikes. I'm interested to see your results if you make some for Maelstrom!

I'm going to try out some homemade textures with Chapter Four so the current chapter won't have an abrupt texture-shift. xP

Sounds good! (Though you could always sneak in the texture by starting at 1% opacity and then raising it in teensy increments each page )Β

This is excellent, thank you for posting this as I am trying to add more than just the effects that I can create with my markers on my work to make them look better, and this is exactly the sort of thing I can use.

the photo mashups are amazing and can stand as separate pieces of artistic photo manipulation.Β
Honest opinion - there's no sense doing such work on the texture in order to apply it to 10 minute sketches like the last image of the girl it doesn't add up anything to those sort of comic or cartoon type of art.Β

GREAT JOB!

Thank you!

It's really not much work considering the textures can be reused. One lasts me a few years before I get bored and make another. I love the effect it has on my comic pages (though I use it much more subtly than the above example), so I'd have to disagree with you on that.

nice idea, i run around my places taking photos of some surrounding places and objects this idea may come in handy and may turn into something interesting with it's possibilities. Β

I've always wanted to try using textures in my art, but I've never wanted to use other images for fear of copyrights and such. This is a wonderful tutorial, I can't wait to try it out! Thank you so much for making it! ^^
