Description We are not supposed to risk being ourselves these days. The advertising media is clear about who our role models should be. But I maintain that it is only after climbing the wall of the "cultural should" that we can come into focus to ourselves. Not that this is easy. It is fitting that this lady has a big hat and a small purse because to buck the mainstream, you definitely need more brains than money.

the reversed double image was an amazing idea, and i love all the psychedelic-looking flowers, especially the one at the bottom.

...
i'm not a confident person. she looks extremely confident, and the double image makes her look like she knows things; she can see things others can't.

Oh, and how she's trapped between this mischevious looking other version of hers' and the flower-thing trying to tickle some life out of her...
but I think that societies (at least of the cultures I know) were not cut out for individuals to be who they are in a long, looong time. We probably do have more freedom in expression through the media and everything, because people can inspire each other. And not only neighbours, but people from one end of the world to the other. As long as there is a "mass" of people, there'll always be the compromise we call society-which can be a pain...but as long as we have backdoors and feelings and thoughts for ourselves, it's our duty to feel free using them.

You make a great point. Society has to run, and therefore it will cater to the masses, and the mass benefit. I like that word "backdoors." As long as there is freedom to use a backdoor, there's no reason not to express individuality. I hope that eventually people--kids especially--will realize those backdoors are unlocked and ready to be pushed open. No kicking necessary!

every risk taken is a bridge between reality and imagination

modern society has never been further of realising it's ideals..... unless of course you believe that only the ideals of a few matter

Or maybe it's the other way? Maybe the constructs of society demand the law of the lowest common denominator because it will indeed protect the greatest number of people? The power struggles seem to be about who is actually contained within that lowest common demoninator. Illegal immigrants? The generational poor? Women? Women with children? Gays and lesbians? The self-employed? Small business owners? The Blue Man Group? Interesting concepts, all.

Campaign against Miley Cyrus?
I think not being ourselves ends up breaking us. But everyone has conformed to this one big mass we call a society. Like think about when someone asks "How are you?" The correct and most often used response is "fine." But how many times are you ever actually fine? And how many times have you expect someone to respond with something other than "fine"?
Sorry, now I'm going off on a tangent! Again, you have a good eye for inspiring text. But mostly I want that enormous hat!

Is that hat not the absolute best? And paired with the itsy-bitsy purse. Now there's a lady with righteous priorities!
