So this summer, myself, =seijikat and *evphaedrielle are doing a set of Round Robins. We've each chosen a theme for our own books and they will be circling between us for a total of 5 times [so there will be 15 full spread pages in total, 5 done by each] To start, we were to do the covers [both front and back], the inside covers and front facing page, then the first full spread page to kick off the start of our book. Piccies for the pages will go up when the current one we've done makes a full round between us.

For my book, I chose "Fairytale Theatre" as the theme.

And here's my first page. I wanted "The Nightingale" to be first up on the list since I'd gotten this perfect idea for it while I was working out my cover pages.

The papers range and all have been 'aged' and stained. The "Emperor" is Japanese over Chinese I know, but I'd been holding onto these paper dolls with elaborate kimono for a few years and wanted to use one here because I thought it was pretty [though don't ask me where the unicorn idea came in because it was rather last minute -lol]. The Nightingale is made of up butterfly wings and tiny gears [and it was such a pain to glue those down, it's so tiny and I wasn't sure the bird would even show up on the page so I outlined it xD] and the "song" is a part of some vintage sheet music I had left over from the Valentine's scrap. After washing it in white paint, I wrote in an exert from the Nightingale story in the background to ease up some of the blank space I had going on.

It's kind of plain, but I'm good with it ^^

I love this tale and the way that you've translated it into a visual representation here. The paperdoll is pure win, as is the bird and all the irritation with the gears was worth it because it's adorable. Definitely an impressive way to kick off your book. ^__^

[Doesn't everything need a unicorn somewhere? It would make things a lot prettier if nothing else--lol]

Thanks you ^^ it was all so last minute since I had a completely different idea to begin with, but once I'd started laying it out, I didn't like it so this starting coming about instead. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the fairy tales as they come together too.

[why yes, yes it does -lol]
